THE LONE BELLOW
+ Mt. Joy
Fine Line Music Café
Sunday 10/15/2017 (7pm/$20)
finelinemusic.com
The Lone Bellow will be headlining the Fine Line Music Café this Sunday. The last time they were in town, it was at October 2015 and we said, “The highlight of their show was the encore, a cover of Prince's "Purple Rain". The band said they were recording the live performance and will make it available to their fans... "but please don't tell Prince." At the end of the song, the Varsity Theater blew in a slow, snow-like confetti from the ceiling... which under purple lighting made it look like a real 'purple rain'.”
Of course, that was before Prince died, so let’s hope they cover the song again, exclusively for Minneapolis.
The Lone Bellow’s new album Walk Into A Storm is out now.

HOODIE ALLEN
+ Luke Christopher / Myles Parrish
First Avenue
Sunday 10/15/2017 (6pm/$30)
first-avenue.com
Hoodie Allen is touring in support of his third studio album The Hype. We saw the rapper in September 2013 and noted, “NYC indie rapper Hoodie Allen got the festivities started with an energetic 40 min. set, playing to a crowd that was clearly his fanbase. Starting with ‘Fame’, a recent collaboration with Chiddy Bang, the 25 year-old rapper got everyone moving immediately concentrating mostly on tracks from his most recent self-released full-length, All American, mashing up songs and keeping the set momentum moving (even U mascot Goldy Gopher jumped on stage to join in).”
