Canadian-bred, but based out of Austin, Black Pistol Fire, has sold out their upcoming 7th Street Entry show in Minneapolis. The band’s latest Deadbeat Graffiti is available now.
After appearing at numerous music festivals (Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, Bonnaroo, Sasquatch, Governor's Ball, and Riot Fest), the duo (guitarist/vocalist Kevin McKeown and drummer Eric Owen) is known for their powerful live performances.
Show up early to get a good spot for Cobi. The Multi-dimensional singer/songwriter recently released Songs From The Ashes (Pt 1).
We caught Cobi at this year’s Basilica Block Party and wrote, “Cobi, a Grand Marais, MN native who was once in the Boston indie-pop band Gentleman Hall opened the day’s entertainment on this front stage, notable for sloped grassy areas, where fans could watch casually. The bluesy singer released a buzzworthy single, ‘Don’t You Cry for Me’ last year, along with follow up, ‘Prophet Story’, ahead of a more full-length release and his loyal local fans gave his trio a warm reception.”

Grammy-nominated Reggae artist Matisyahu is back with his sixth studio album Undercurrent. The new record is a special one, as Matisyahu explains, “This is the first album I've made that is produced by myself and the band with out any outside forces involved. It's my baby. No compromises, full artistic integrity.”
Seeing the singer from previous appearances in 2015, I can tell you that his lyrics are deeply personal, at times based on real topics and ideas: “We've seen Matisyahu before, but Saturday's show was possibly the best show we've ever seen - and it's thanks to clearly hearing every note from his very excellent live band, away from the distractions of a regular "rock" show where fans are constantly talking. Unfortunately, fans weren't used to the sit-down environment of the "theater style" shows. At first everyone was respectful (with some dancing fans going to the back to dance away without obscuring someone's view of the stage). Of course, all that changed when the second set of Matisyahu when everyone stood up (with encouragement from the singer).”
Supporting acts includes Common Kings and Orphan. The former band recently released Lost in Paradise, which appeared #1 on Billboard’s Reggae Chart and #2 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Chart. Common King’s new single, ‘Cali Girl’, came out in September.

We previously caught the Montreal psych-rock trio in 2013 and wrote, “Montreal’s Elephant Stone opened the show, armed with swirling projected images and frontman Rishi Dhir’s sitar to get the evening started on a tranced Indian-tinged beginning. Dhir would later return to join the Black Angels toward the end of their set, but won over several in the crowd with his spirited solos and weaving late 60’s era Beatles/Kinks sounds with a modern edge.”
