THE NEW PORNOGRAPHERS
at First Avenue
Tuesday 04/18/17, 6:30pm ($33)

Fan-favorites supergroup The New Pornographers is back at First Avenue, touring in support of their new record Whiteout Conditions (Collected Works Records/Concord Records).
We caught the group in 2014 and wrote, ““This is really an amazing place to always come to… we know it’s always going to be awesome” Newman mentioned before ‘Testament to Youth in Verse’, gathering some local love, but also refused to mention another dubious city where things maybe weren’t so golden for the group.”
Duo Waxahatchee (Katie and Katherine Simonetti) to open. Their album Ivy Tripp is out now on Merge Records.

SLEEP
at First Avenue
Wednesday 04/19/17, 9pm ($25)
first-avenue.com
San Jose’s trio Sleep (Al Cisneros, Matt Pike, Jason Roeder) is headlining First Avenue’s mainroom next Wednesday.
Mono is listed as opener, but personally speaking, I think they should actually be the headliner. The Japanese group is doing a massive U.S. Tour in support of their Requiem for Hell (Temporary Residence Ltd.)
