RED WANTING BLUE

Red Wanting Blue (or simply RWB) was on my radar in 2010 with their re-issue of These Magnificent Miles. They are back now with From The Vanishing Point, the album dropped January 10th and landed #10 on The Billboard Heatseekers Chart. I can see why, their music reminds me of Toad the Wet Sprocket and Dave Matthews. You know what I am talking about? Like the music feels great at a party or a massive music festival with a cold beer in hand.
I think "Audition", "White Snow" and "Love Remains" (which their album title took their name from this song) are the best songs on the new album. My least favorite is "Cocaine", the song is about singer/songwriter Scott Terry's addiction to love. Maybe it's the southern drawl of the words "cocaine" or the ballad-esque song, but I just felt it didn't fit on the album.
Recently the band showed off their fan-filmed footage of "Audition", which you can watch on vimeo. Although the footage is live, the song is taken from From The Vanishing Point. They did a good job syncing up the song though.
From The Vanishing Point is out now, the band is currently on tour. See tour dates below:
YOUNG PRISMS

Kanine Records will be releasing Young Prisms' sophomore album, In Between, on March 27th, 2012. The new album is described as capturing "the highs and the lows of the last year". From my understanding, they were trapped in London, had deaths of loved ones, rejection, loneliness, depressions, despair... and that was just their highs of the year! Just kidding, I'm sure you'll hear all about it, come this Spring. If you can't wait, you can preview "Floating in Blue" from In Between, via Noisey.com.
The San Francisco shoegazey/lo-fi band is heading out on tour:
JENNY DALTON

I know it's February, but this 'blue' song fits: "Blue January" was written as a New Year's Day single, released January 1st. The single is described by Jenny Dalton as a "slightly depressing morning-after-party feeling". We've all been there.
Her self-written biography doesn't name drop Minneapolis' fan favorite Cloud Cult, but she had former members collaborate with her studio albums, Rusalka's Umbrella in particular, but she wrote that her two cats, Leo and Lola, help write her songs (I would not be surprise to see them credited as song writers on her liner notes). That's okay, she even confessed, "I don't always know what to put in a bio".
You can get the single now on iTunes or CDbaby.
EDGAR BREAU

Patches Of Blue is the new album from Edgar Breau, former frontsman for "proto-punk/psych band" Simply Saucer. The band broke up in 1979, but reformed in 2006.
Breau felt that Patches Of Blue songs "were coming from a very different place" and decided to do his upcoming album as a solo project.
So far, you're only given a preview of three songs under his "Patches of Blues Preview" on Bandcamp.com:
Patches Of Blue will be released this month, February 2012.
