We already mentioned Brooklyn's She Keeps Bees was on tour.

Brooklyn's She Keeps Bees are currently on tour in support of their latest album Eight Houses (Future Gods), stopping by the 7th Street Entry in Minneapolis last night, August 25.
Célosia
Alternative Paris/Minneapolis rock group Célosia started the evening off playing songs from their Fuzzy EP, including all "By The Sea",
"Beez" ("You know, like the animal."), and "Popo Creepin'". Songs seemed like they were done in the jazz style of school, often with notes and song structures that were not predictable.
Highlight of their set was a song with the pending title "Pinks and Blues", that they said was "...very, very, very new. And I mean it."
Batteryboy
Next was orchestra-ish band Batteryboy, who sang emotional songs about relationships, love, and trusts. Although you only get a sense of how the band sound at the tiny 7th Street Entry stage, I suspect they would sound a million times better with a full size orchestra behind singer Cobey Rouse.
Highlight of their set was "Me Again", a song that they claimed was "the climax of our set".
Since 2006, Brooklyn's She Keeps Bees have been making music at home, starting with Minisink Hotel. When we saw them in 2010, the band was a duo (Jessica Larrabee and Andy LaPlant), but for this current tour, they decided to add a third band member. The extra guitarist added a fuller sound, and also to help carry the song while Larrabee goes to her keyboard, for songs like "Is What It Is" and "Both Sides".
Setlist
As you can see from their setlist the majority of their songs were from Eight Houses ("Breezy", "Owl", "Is What It Is", "Feather Lighter", "Both Sides", "Wasichu", "Greasy Grass", and "Raven"), which is coming out September 16th on Future Gods. Interestingly enough, they decided to cross off "Radiance" on their set. Not on the set was "All Or None / Dark Horse", which was played right before their set finale, "Gimme". There was a non-encore, which they almost step off the stage, but instead just started their instruments up again to play "See Me" as the final song.
With the exception of the three older songs, I got the impression that their fans were still trying to feel out these unheard songs. Obviously the band love these new songs and just excited to play these new material.
They dedicated "Owl" to Meg in the audience, who they said that she used to run a bar in San Francisco and Larrabee would bribe audience to listen to her music by bringing grill cheese sandwiches.
Jessica Larrabee
Jessica Larrabee is actually pretty entertaining as just a speaker. Her Nancy Kerrigan impression after her sprained ankle is pretty hilarious, "Whyyyyyyy?"
Fans interested in checking out what She Keeps Bees' latest album Eight Houses album sounds like, then you should definitely check them out on this current tour.

Los Angeles-based The Allah-Las followed (maybe not the best name choice given current global tensions) with a jangly garage rock set capturing a peaceful, easy California-like …
The Allah-Las are music fans, having met each other working at Amoeba Music in Los Angeles. We caught the band last year and described them as "sounding heavily like Abkco-era Rolling Stones, Zombies and Animals."
Speaking of Animals, their latest single has a b-side called "No Werewolves", and you can recently hear "Buffalo Nickel" on Soundcloud.

I can't help but think of Buddy Holly when I think of Peggy Sue, but clearly this Brighton-based band doesn't sound anything like Buddy. For one thing, they are supposed to sound like modern indie-folk, particularly with their opening song "The Shape We Made" with the brilliant line: "his pretty eyes will soon grow tired".
Before I ramble on about Peggy Sue, I wanted to quickly mention the two opener: Athletes in Slacks (myspace) and She Keeps Bees (official / myspace). I've seen the former before, and told you that they finished strong with INXS's "Never Tear Us Apart". While this time around, their cover song (of Tears For Fears' "Head Over Heels"), but it was in the middle of their set. They seem like really nice guys, like you'd want to go bowling with them.
♥ She Keeps Bees
She Keeps Bees is basically a guitar and drum duo, and usually bear the comparison of The White Stripes, and possibly unfairly so. Singer Jessica Larrabee seemingly hates the comparison of Cat Power or PJ Harvey (at one point heckled at herself, referring to herself "When did PJ Harvey get so fat?"). And for the record, she did look a bit like Chrissie Hynde and sings like Chan Marshall, only because she has a smoky southern comfort singing style.
I didn't know any of their songs, but that's okay, it was still fun to watch Larrabee cursing at her amp ("Why don't you work right?"). She jokingly said, "yeah blame the equipment, when really you suck." I love the self-loathing qualities that Larrabee brings. Sadly this night was the last night that they'll be playing with Peggy Sue.
♥ Rosa Rex
So just a quick update for those catching up, Peggy Sue are basically Rosa Rex and Katy Klaw, and one Olly on drums. If you were wondering about their odd stage name, they used to play under Peggy Sue and the Pirates, so that explains a lot.
They're closely associated with other indie-folk bands and singers like Kate Nash and Mumford & Sons. And not surprisingly will be playing with Laura Marling this July.
Well, I'll say one thing about the band, they sound more louder and fuller live. I think that works well, considering that the two girls are soft-spoken (so polite! "can I get more vocals, please?") and on their debut album, Fossils and Other Phantoms they are more low-key. Which is fine for a studio album, since you do want to hear the vocals clearly.
They admittedly said they only have "a few songs" since they only have one album. But fans kept shouting out, "ten more! twenty more!" But their brief hour set, they exchanged acoustics, ukulele, electric, bass, and, of course, the accordion.
My favorite song they did was "Long Division Blues", mostly because of the line, "our love is like a long division." It's really lovely.
Peggy Sue are currently on tour and be expecting to do all the UK massive festivals, including Glastonbury.
