Our friend Emelia is here to answer some burning questions about Sci-Fi Caper.
1. Describe your bands in three words.
Valley Fever Pop!
2. Why is there a drawing of a tooth on the cover of your 2013 self-titled album? (Or what is that alien-looking thing floating in the background?)
The cover is originally from a flyer our friend (Chris X) drew for a show that took place in August of last year. The A in August was a tooth. OR it can be considered as a reminder to smile!
3. What is the scenester scene like in Fresno? Is there a scene? I remember when there was a massive ska-thing that exploded in the 90s in Fresno.
The ska scene is somewhat over, apart from a few bands. There is definitely a bit of a hipster sort of scene going on in Fresno, but the scene we are most a part of and are most proud of is the "Friendcore" scene. Best described my our good friend Abe "Friendcore is a group of Fresno bands who all go to each others shows and play together and have formed a very amazing music community here". We're just a whole bunch of friends, some in bands some not, from all different sorts of genres and we support each other in all sorts of ways. It's wonderful and we probably wouldn't be where we are if it weren't for them.
BONUS LEVEL QUESTION: Favorite Sci-Fi movie?
Most definitely Star Wars, I was raised on it. That's my childhood, therefore it is dear to me.
