Vans Warped Tour

We covered Vans Warped Tour last year and we were only able to cover about seven bands (one stage)... which is pretty sad, because there are hundreds of bands on the lineup. If you are attending this year's show, taking place this July 20th, you'll just have to pick and choose your battle and have fun watching as many bands as possible.

My personal picks are Saves the Day, Anberlin (their last tour before they break up!), Yellowcard, and Sleeper Agent.

Red Wanting Blue and The Alternate Routes are on a co-headlining tour with their "Sounds Like Summer Tour".

Columbus, Ohio-based American rock & roll band Red Wanting Blue is back with a new album Little America, which came out two weeks ago (July 1st).

Kidding around

Before we put on the kids glove, I wanted to separate the men from the boys: When you think of Mountain Man, you think of burly bearded hunters wearing animal furs.... but Mountain Man is a an all-girls band (Molly Erin Sarle, Alexandra Sauser-Monnig, and Amelia Randall Meath) and they are playing a free show at The Cedar Cultural Center in Minneapolis on June 10th (Sunday). I have been to one of these Cedar patio shows, it's free, but it also starts and ends really early (we're talking before 9pm). Anyway, I will be there and after they are done, I will walk across the street to see The Get Up Kids at The Triple Rock Social Club.

I know, I thought they broke up (they did in 2005!), but the kids are back. I guess you can't keep them down.

The Get Up Kids' new album is called There Are Rules and they have recently toured with another emo band, Saves the Day, last month. They are returning to Minneapolis with Barsuk Records' The Globes, whose album production I thought was "fantastic".

Below is a full tour listing. More dates are always being added, apparently the band's supercharged to play Taiwan. I would be too.

Kid Cudi continues his rock experimentation and joins the innovative duo (The Knux) on "Run," an upbeat number that conjures images of the beach, women, and good times. GAME comptongame.com Game, formerly The Game, is a rapper, who started out in G-Unit (Guerrilla Unit) with 50 cent, has a new album called R.E.D., to be out on August 23rd on Interscope Records. Game's debut song "Bottles & Rockin' J's" in June on Rollingstone.com, features a variety of guests: DJ Khaled, Busta Rhymes, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, Fabolous and Black Wall Street artist Kid Red.
WAZU wazuband.com WAZU is originally from Sally's town, Sydney, Australia. They recently moved to New York, and I guess they have a few demos and free EPs at their website. I know it said "name your price", you can enter in zero, or if you're feeling generous... Anyroad, they have a show in at the Trash Bar in Brooklyn, New York, on July 15th. Their opening guest is Cassette Kids. Show starts at 8pm. Be there or be square.		SPRING SKIER facebook.com/springskier Members of Hungry Kids of Hungary (a band that we've mentioned here several times), Kane Mazlin and Remy Boccalatte, have announced their side project Spring Skier in June. Triple J called their song, "Chelsea", "A dreamy, melancholic pop song. The lush orchestral production is reminiscent of Simon & Garfunkle or The Panics. Impressive stuff – as you’d expect …" Look for a full album sometime this year.

The Clash the Disko Kids' remix, as well as remixes by DoctR and Fidelio are from Touché Records' free EP by Distrakt I went to touchercrds.com, could not figure where the free download is.		KIDS ON A CRIME SPREE facebook.com/kidsonacrimespree Kids On A Crime Spree is Mario Hernandez's latest project, with Bill Evans and Becky Barron. If Mario's name sounds familiar, that's because he's the one-man band behind From Bubblegum To Sky (who I was impressed that he liked Pink Lady). Their record, We Love You So Bad, came out May 31st on Slumberland Records.
CHESSA & THE SKINNY KIDZ chessamusic.com Chessa & The Skinny Kidz's single "Freak Out" is from The New Dance Mix USA - In the Club. B96 (Chicago) as well as other radio stations are playing this song as part of the Summer dance hits. In early June, Chessa opened up B96's SummerBash, playing alongside huge stars such as Pitbull, Chris Brown, Lupe Fiasco, Keri Hilson, Jay Sean, T-Pain, Joe Jonas, New Boyz and Far East Movement (they're Asians!)
