The Turf Club was a great place to have this show, it felt like a home coming of sorts many of the people attending new or were associated with the bands. It felt electrifying all around.
Starting of the night was Val Son (Michael Gunvalson, Eric Carlson, Emily Mohrbacher, and Jack Ventimiglia). Their set was very relaxing and enjoyable, songs like ‘On The Range’ and ‘Out of Nowhere’ were very good. Their sound is awesome, especially when their voices come together. It is like candy leaving you, you just want more. I look forward to seeing them live again. My personal favorite was listening to ‘Beautiful Child’, which I thought was the best of the set. They have their single out on iTunes called ‘Sundays’.
Margaret then came up on stage and had a wonderful performance. Her sound is wonderful, sounding like a mix of Alanis Morissette and Tori Amos; a haunting beautiful voice. Margaret’s stage presence was very good, kept in touch with the crowd and enjoyed the feedback. I'm looking forward to hearing about or seeing her again soon.
All night up to this point it had felt like everyone was waiting for something to happen and people were not let down. From the minute On An On hit the stage, the energy in the place just erupted. I will say this, if they have this much energy in their side projects as they put into this show, those projects should be outstanding.
It was hard to put my finger on one or two songs that stood out, the whole show was captivating, enjoyable, and all around fun.
‘All The Horses’ was just amazing loved the sound and vibe, ‘Every Song’ and ‘Ghosts’, for me, were the most enjoyable, because just listening it sounded like they didn't want to quit.
I recommend seeing these guys and give them a listen. When you go to look at the merch, say hello to Alissa, she will be by the table. Their latest release And The Wave Has Two Sides came out in 2015 on Roll Call Records.... the album should be in your record collection.
