We caught up with Chris Koza recently to talk about his upcoming solo album In Real Time.

The CD release party is coming up, Sunday, November 9th, at the Cedar Cultural Center. Listed as opener, and previously mentioned in the brief talk, are Reina del Cid. I believe the band (Reina del Cid on vocals/guitars, Toni Lindgren on lead guitar, Chris Wiberg on upright bass, and Zach Schmidt on drums) used to be called The Cidizens.

Manchester's The 1975 will be returning to Minnesota for a third time at the Myth Nightclub next Saturday, November 8th. We've been lucky enough to have caught The 1975 every time they play in Minneapolis.

If you haven't bought their self-titled album, now may be the best time as a Deluxe Edition of their self-titled contain a bonus disc with all the EPs: Facedown, Sex, Music for Cars and IV.

The popular band have consistently sold out their shows, so expect a big turnout at the Myth.

New Jersey rockers Young Rising Sons will supporting The 1975 on their November/December North American Tour. We last saw the band at the Nether Bar earlier this Summer. Look for Young Rising Sons' latest The High EP, out now via Dirty Canvas/Interscope Records.

Originally called Death from Above, the band was forced to change their name to Death From Above 1979 due to legal dispute with dance music label Death From Above (DFA) Records.

After a 10 year hiatus, the punk-rock duo (Jesse Keeler and Sebastien Granger) are back with their second album The Physical World, and they are heading out on tour, starting November 1st in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Toronto's Biblical is set to open their US tour, supporting their debut full-length, Monsoon Season.

From the ashes of The Honorary Title, singer Jarrod Gorbel with former Rilo Kiley lead guitarist Blake Sennett, formed Night Terrors of 1927. We previously saw Night Terrors of 1927 at 7th Street Entry in earlier this year.

The duo are currently on tour with Los Angeles pop group Capital Cities.

The Colourist are finally on their very first headlining tour, selling out the 7th Street Entry in Minneapolis last night, April 4th.

The Wind and the Wave

Starting off the show was the Wind and the Wave. We first saw the duo (Dwight Baker and 'Crabby' Patty Lynn) open up for Stereophonics, which I described as writing songs about beach wreckages, lonely California driving, and that they were waiting the release of their album.... Nothing's changed since last year, the band are still awaiting the release of their album from RCA Records.

Although you can hear "California" on some television shows (like Hart of Dixie), currently, their only single is "With Your Two Hands", which you can get on iTunes. They ended their set with a Simple Mind cover of "Don't You (Forget About Me)", which got the crowd singing along.

The Wind and the Wave will be opening for Bruce "the Boss" Springsteen tonight in Dallas.

Night Terrors of 1927

Next up was Night Terrors of 1927, a band from Los Angeles. They started off strong with "Bury This Love", a song that sounds like it could from the New Romantics period. While most of their songs were upbeat, they did slow it down with "Shine."

Let's talk about The Colourist. The first time I saw them, they opened up for Youngblood Hawke last year, and the pop band blew me away.

The band's been back to Minneapolis since then, even explaining how they purchased long underwear for the first time, making snow angels weren't a good idea ... and that leaving an unopened soda in the car at negative fifteen degrees was not a good idea. So, let's just say the band is not relocating to Minneapolis any time soon.

Setlist Photo

The Colourist basically played their debut album, which came out last week, plus throwing in a few odds and ends. Although there were some new songs I didn't recognize on the set, they did return to their very first song they wrote called "Fairweather Friend." You can tell that singer Adam Castilla was quite proud of the song.

As usual, at least to me, the attention seems to be focused on their girl drummer Maya Tuttle, who looked like she was in good spirit.

My favorite songs on the set was "Yes Yes" and "Tonight (Young Hearts)", even though I probably can't relate to the lyrics.

The audience was quiet receptive to The Colourist's music, as they all sang along to all the singles... including the final song, "Little Games."
