New wavers rejoice! Former vocalist and guitarist for mod-rockers The Jam and co-founder of Style Council, Paul Weller, is making a very special stop in Minneapolis. He’ll be hitting the fabulous Varsity Theater on September 10th.

Weller is and has been a hugely influential force in the music world over the last four decades (especially to Britpop bands) and hasn’t slowed his output since going solo in the early 90s. Although he hasn’t released an album of originals since 2012’s Sonik Kicks on Yep Roc, his brief jaunt through the States will honor the release of a second compilation called More Modern Classics. The album acts as a companion to Weller’s previous hits collection Modern Classics and will highlight tunes from 1999-2014, including two new tracks “Brand New Toy” and “Flame-Out!”

The Modfather making an appearance in Minneapolis is a really big deal considering the man doesn’t play the Midwest often.
