NOEL GALLAGHER’S HIGH FLYING BIRDS
noelgallagher.com
You know we love Oasis, so we’ve been keeping a close eye on the two brothers. While Liam Gallagher just did a successful tour (stopping by Minneapolis in November 2017), his brother Noel Gallagher, will be embarking on a U.S. tour, starting tomorrow in Detroit. What’s really exciting about Noel’s upcoming world tour is that he will bring with him a new 10 piece live band!
As you know, since the Oasis break up, Noel has been releasing music under the Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds name. His latest album Who Built the Moon landed #1 in the UK charts, and the critics are calling the record “best album yet”.

JADE BIRD

Breakout British artist Jade Bird confirmed that she will be heading to SXSW 2018.
The tour dates come on the heels of the release of Jade’s latest single “Lottery,” which MTV hailed, “Jade Bird gives Joni Mitchell a run for her money on this beautiful new single.”
We caught Jade Bird in November 2017 and wrote, “London alt-country singer-songwriter Jade Bird in support of her first EP, Something American (Glassnote Records) , released in July. Bird has a delightful and somewhat cheeky demeanor, with a vocal twang similar in parts to Jake Bugg (enough so that they should collaborate and call themselves A Bird and a Bugg) and started with the strumming ‘Run and Hide’ and bluesy ‘I’ll Be There’.”

LADY BIRD
ladybird.movie
The feel-good coming-of-age film Lady Bird, starring Saoirse Ronan, is a big sleeper hit. What’s even cooler is the outstanding soundtrack, featuring our favorites The Monkees and Alanis Morissette, among others.
Writer and director Greta Gerwig personal wrote letters to artists she had in mind for the film—including Morissette and Dave Matthews—to expressly ask for their blessing to use their songs in Lady Bird.
Naturally, the film went on to win the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy, and Ronan took home the award for Best Actress, Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy. The New York Film Critics Circle named Lady Bird 2017's Best Film and Ronan the year's Best Actress, while the National Board of Review placed Lady Bird in the year's Top 10 Films, named Gerwig Best Director, and named Metcalf Best Supporting Actress.
Lady Bird is playing at a theater near you.

The Death of Our Invention

BIRDS OF PASSAGE

New Zealand’s Birds of Passage (aka Alicia Merz) is back after four years of silence.
The ambient, minimalist, experimental project Birds of Passage will be releasing The Death of Our Invention on March 30th via Denovali Records.
Headphone Commute explains it, “Alicia presents us with an endearing invitation into her fragile world, a captivating journey through the landscapes of her emotional euphoria and agony, a further commitment to musical experimentation… The cold minimalist-drones, distorted field recordings, and sparse instrumentation, illustrate an icy, desolate and dark world. It’s as if we are listening to the sound of winter itself; an audio exposure to the unforgiving elements of winter.”

The record begins with the hoofed and horned animals of our world running from mountains and forests on fire. Eerily harkening to the recent events in California and the massive devastation by fire across the land.”
