The Love Language just finished their tour for Ruby Red (out now on Merge Records), making a stop at Gasa Gasa in New Orleans.
Opening up the show was Julie Odell, one of the best local artists. Julie blends a solo acoustic guitar and keyboard to mold together her music. She borrowed a keyboard from the headliner Love Language to help her play her set. I prefer her tunes on keys, but every song does the job for me. Her lyrics and vocals are refreshing to hear every time I see her live. At some point in the future, I can see her assembling a band together again like her old band Giant Cloud.
Headliner was The Love Language. This was another great set for the Carolina rockers! Running down all the songs from their latest release, Ruby Red. But all the new songs sounded great, but my favorites are still their oldies like "Lalita", "Heart to Tell", and "Nocturne". The band played all my requests and were a class act as usual. I loved dancing the night away, so be sure to catch them on tour!
