Beats Antique stopped by New Orlean's Howlin' Wolf in Louisiana on October 19th.

Opener Lynx a very innovative style with guitar looping, beatboxes, and various styles of drums. Her freestyle beatbox was the highlight of the night. It was very unique from the traditional beatboxing I've seen from reggae and hip hop artists. Lynx added vocal layers and was able to change the tempo and volume almost better then Pro-tools.

Her new album Illuminate will drop in a few months. Help her out through Kickstarter. If you contribute, you'll have a chance to get a beatboxing lesson or a private house show.

Samurai warrior behind curtains, mermaid crowd surfing, bellydance-off, did I miss anything else?? I'd say Beats Antique is fairly creative. Zoe Jakes is the center for all the wardrobe exchanges and it kept everyone's attention on her. It's almost as if she had fire-lit hula hoops and glow sticks attached to her body for the duration of the concert. Speaking of fan participation, there were a few glowing hula hoops and gypsy's playing finger tambourines in the crowd.

David Satori is the mastermind behind all the music production. Satori would scream "How you feeling you, New Orleans!", "Let's see those hands!", just when the rhythm hit. Not sure what you call the electronic banjo he was playing, but it was awesome! Mixing dubstep, afrobeat, and any genre you can think off, Beats Antique generates an incredible sound on stage.

Citizen Cope at Howlin' Wolf, New Orleans

Coooooooope is back! He was rocking the boots, slick back hair, and of course stone cold look. Clarence Greenwood is as chill as they get, and that's why we love him. Playing two hour long sets to a sold-out crowd, he was glad to back in the Crescent City. In support of his latest release, One Lovely Day, which was released back on July 17th, Citizen Cope is in the middle of his 47-date North American tour. 47 shows, no big deal.

The last time I saw Citizen Cope was in Brooklyn at Mercury Lounge back in Spring of 2009. I was front row center and have been a big fan ever since. Greenwood delivered another superb show with, I believe, some new members in his band. After the Rain Water LP in 2010, I didn't think the man could write another five-star record, but boy was I wrong! Monday night in New Orleans, he kept everybody moving and hands waving in the air. My favorite tracks of the evening had to be "Bullet and a Target" and, of course, "Healing Hands". The DC native delivers a powerful message in his music and has got plenty of soul.
