Garbage (Shirley Manson, Steve Marker, Duke Erikson, and Butch Vig) is back with their critically acclaimed sixth studio album Strange Little Birds (STUNVOLUME Records). What a glorious return, as the record debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Rock Albums and Alternative Albums on the week of its release. Lead single “Empty” debuted at No. 40 on Billboard's Alternative Songs chart.
We previously caught the band in 2013 and noted that Minneapolis was a special town for the band: “As for Minneapolis, there's a funny story about it. "Minneapolis is our 17 tour anniversary," Manson said on stage (referring to the fact that their very first live concert was in 1995 at the 7th Street Entry). She continued on to tell the story of how they'd sold out the venue and that "we cannot f**** this up, we cannot f**** this up!" They were so nervous, not really sure how Garbage would unfold that night. So, in a sentence, "Minneapolis holds a special place in our hearts."”
Tour starts tomorrow, all tickets, including VIP packages are available now for purchases. Get a rare chance to get a selfie with the one and only Shirley Manson.
We are also very excited to see that Dee Dee (from Dum Dum Girls) will be opening for Garbage under her music project Kristin Kontrol. When we saw DDG in 2014 when they played their new album Too True in its entirety live, and it’s everything a girl rock album should be... however as Kristin Kontrol, it’ll be less rock and more electronic. She’s exploring a dark and glam sound on her debut album X-Communicate (out now on Sub Pop Records). Check out the title track on youtube.com.

San Francisco Chronicle explained Wayne “The Train” Hancock’s nickname, “One of the most shiver-inducing singers on the planet, who gets his nickname by virtue of the unstoppable power of his vocal chords, Hancock embodies the spirits of Hank Williams, Ernest Tubb and Bob Wills in his ferociously swinging honky-tonk -- outlaw country to the max.”
Check out the unstoppable power vocals for yourself next Thursday, July 7th at the Eagles Club in Minneapolis.
Hancock is often compared to Hank Williams III, who actually covered some of Hancock’s songs, including ‘Thunderstorms and Neon Signs’ and ‘87 Southbound’.
Wayne Hancock’s latest Ride is available now on Bloodshot Records. The record was produced by Lloyd Maines (Uncle Tupelo, Wilco, Dixie Chicks, Joe Ely).
