Did you know Noah Taylor was a musician? No, neither did I, but apparently he's been playing music in a range of bands for ages! Live Free or Die!!! is the new release from Noah Taylor & The Sloppy Boys. This initiative sees Noah teaming up with some other noteworthy artists (Cec Condon from The Mess Hall and Ed Clayton-Jones from The Wreckery) to produce a somewhat interesting sound. The album itself is short and sweet, with only seven tracks. Noah's voice? Well it's far from soothing; quite dark and menacing, in my opinion.
It's definitely worth a listen; not so much to feel inspiration to dance (melody isn't the strong point of this release), but for the purpose of sitting down and listening to some lyrics that actually have something to say.

Georgia Fair - All Through Winter
Another band that has just appeared on my radar. A pair of Sydney boys, who indulge in what could be described as folk-pop with an country-esque flavour (and quite a pronounced Australian accent in places).
All Through Winter as recorded in the mountains of North Carolina and is an album full of lustrous tracks, seemingly far too involved to be the work of two people (yes, i realise they probably had a little assistance during recording). It's actually a really good album, one to sit down and listen to whilst you're just trying to relax; maybe reading or maybe even doing a spot of vacuuming (with volume turned up to 11, of course).
So pop over to their website for more details on when they'll be around. It seems they've just played a few shows (including Newtown Festival) and are likely to be doing some more soon. I could definitely imagine myself listening to these guys with a beer in my hand. Would seem very fitting.
