LITTLE GREEN CARS / JOHN MARK NELSON
at Cedar Cultural Center
Saturday, 05/07/16, 8pm ($20)
thecedar.org
Dublin’s Little Green will be ending their 2016 USA tour at the Cedar Cultural Center in Minneapolis - co-headlining with local John Mark Nelson.
Little Green Cars’ second album Ephemera (Glassnote) came out on CD, Vinyl, Digital on March 11 2016. The term ‘sophomore jinx’ may describe Ephemera, as the band suffered through two deaths and relationship break-ups ... Stevie O’Rourke described the record as “a transitional album... lyrically, it’s all about change – the end of some eras, new beginnings, learning from the past and looking to the future. Ephemera means things that are important to you, but only for a short time. That could apply to music or relationships or even a particular day.”
The John Mark Nelson-teamup show will be a sort of reunion for these two bands - they previously appeared together in 2013.
John Mark Nelson’s new album, I’m Not Afraid is available now via GNDWIRE Records/Thirty Tigers.

FOG
with Greg Grease, Psymun
at 7th Street Entry
Saturday, 05/07/16, 8pm ($12/$15)
first-avenue.com
After nearly a decade, Andrew Broder’s project Fog is back. We’ve known about this since he opened up for Poliça in March 2016. Fog’s upcoming album For Good will be out soon on Totally Gross National Product.
For Good was funded via crowdsource Kickstarter, and recorded parts at Justin Vernon's April Base compound and Eau Claire studio Hive. However, the majority of the album was recorded in Broder’s basement, in the company of his space heater and 3-year-old boy, Sonny.
The record-release party is this Saturday.
Special guests Greg Grease and Psymun to open. The latter band recently opened up for Oneohtrix Point Never in March 2016.
