Apologies to non-Minneapolis readers but there is lot happening on June 18th. Here is a roundup (I may be at one or two or three of these shows, come say hi!)
Every Beatles fan should know that June 18th is Sir Paul McCartney's birthday.

JONATHAN COULTON
jonathancoulton.com
Just a friendly reminder that Jonathan Coulton will be playing at the Guthrie (McGuire Proscenium Stage) in Minneapolis on June 18th.
Unlike some of you, I don't really go to these 'theater' shows, so I actually had to do some research on this event.
There are many small class rooms and lobbies inside the new Guthrie, but there are three theaters. Dave called it the "three bears" theater because they have the right size for all performers.
The first time (and last time) I was at the Guthrie, it was for Dar Williams at Dowling Studio, which was quite a tiny place. They list 250 max, but I felt like there was no way they could fit 100 in that place. It was a very intimate performance.
I am rather excited that I'll be checking out the next-size up at the McGuire Proscenium State, which according to the seating layout looks like a large rectangle room.

Is this a clever "widow's peak" or "widow speak"? Either way, they seem too young to be widows.
Widowspeak is a rock band from Brooklyn, currently signed to Captured Tracks Records. They have one self-titled album, released August 2011 … which about the same time they announced a tour with Vivian Girls.
Widowspeak will be playing with 2:54 at Triple Rock Social Club in Minneapolis on June 18th.

ANBERLIN
anberlin.com
Remember my interview with Anberlin? Well, it looks like they're playing an "acoustic" show at the Varsity Theater in Minneapolis on June 18th. Opening up for them are Campfire OK and Monsters Calling Home. I would actually love to check out Anberlin, it's too bad they're playing on such a busy night.
The band is on tour for their 2010 album, Dark Is the Way, Light Is a Place, but expect to hear some new songs like "Impossible" from a forthcoming 2012 album (I believe the pending title is Vital).

BABY DEE
babydee.org
Baby Dee is performing at Bryant Lake Bowl Theatre on Monday, June 18th. Her latest album, Regifted Light, was released last year on Drag City.
I've seen Baby Dee before, I thought she was a lot of fun and not to mention "outrageous" and "flamboyant". If you see Baby Dee live, expect to see her gigantic harp!
