This reissue is dedicated to Damien's late label-mate, Jason Molina:
"If it were not for Jason Molina, I may not have ended up on the Secretly Canadian record label. The guy practically twisted one arm behind my back, and with the other, walked me through the front door of where I am today. I am eternally grateful for the guidance, knowledge, influence, and inspiration he so graciously shared with me. The reissue of this album is dedicated to his life and legacy."

Dive into a pool of richly hued sights and sounds as innovative arts and culture promoter Green Galactic celebrates 20 years in business with live-sets by three of the world’s most respected electronic music artists. The evening features the dubby complex rhythms of Berlin-based pole, visceral experimental soundscapes by Plaid from the UK, and the melodic handcrafted techno of LA’s own John Tejada. On a past visit, Plaid was featured at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in the LA Philharmonic-presented Concrete Frequency series (… and Tejada has also performed at Disney Hall twice!)

I grew up in the 80s, so you know I have a love for Howard Jones. Although I first heard his song, "What is Love?" (which was a top 40 hit here in the U.S.), for this upcoming tour, it's in honor of Jones' first single, "New Song", which came out in 1983.
30 years ago Howard Jones released "New Song" and to celebrate this anniversary Howard is planning two special UK concerts in November 2013.
The special two performances will be divided into three parts: The first will include an unplugged acoustic set including some rarely performed album tracks and b-sides. The second part will see Howard performing a brand new composition for the very first time that will incorporate multimedia, new technology and audience participation.
The final set will be a 'greatest hits' of sort, playing his best known songs: "What Is Love", "Hide And Seek", "Like To Get To Know You Well", "Pearl In The Shell", "Things Can Only Get Better" (ahh, love this one too) and "New Song".
Every ticket holder will receive a free limited edition Howard Jones 30th Anniversary CD that will comprise a personal selection of Howard's favorite recordings over the past 30 years. Wish I lived in the UK :(.

To help us celebrate and remember why the record label was important, some events are in store (pun not intended) for you:
1) Exhibition
The creative direction for the exhibition will be overseen by Adrian Shaughnessy, George Lee and the team at This Is Real Art. It will include photos (seen and unseen), seminal videos (including props) and memorabilia that capture the symbiotic collaborations between the cultural icons of the day. The location will be an exclusive venue in Mornington Crescent.
2) Book
A beautiful art book will be edited by leading music journalist Adrian Thrills. Adrian began his career editing the punk fanzine 48 Thrills before becoming one of the main feature writers for NME in the Eighties. He contributed fifty cover stories for the paper championing the 2-Tone movement and many of the post-punk, reggae and dance acts of the era; as well as writing the first ever cover story for iconic style magazine The Face featuring The Specials. The book will be designed by Adrian Shaughnessy.
3) Documentary
A film produced by Leopard Films, one of the UK’s leading production companies, and directed by Paul Tilzey, the director of many award winning documentaries for BBC and Channel 4 including ‘The 70s’. Executive producer Todd Austin and Fiona Morris' projects include ‘Do it Yourself; The Story of Rough Trade’ (BBC Four) and ‘Imagine: Damon and Jamie’s Excellent Adventure’ (BBC One) respectively.
4) Events
A series of live events. Virgin Records will be taking over legendary Camden venue KOKO in October. The shows will celebrate four decades of disruptions involving icons and luminaries from Virgin’s roster past and present.
5) Compilations
A compilation CD with 2 x Cd set; one disc with current Virgin artists covering Virgin classics, another disc with original Virgin classics. There will also be a series of Virgin 40 compilation CDs spanning the four decades.

In addition to releasing the Balkan Arts Series on June 4th, the Center will also be holding a special Benefit Dinner and Dance Party at New York's Edison Ballroom that same evening, honoring Sue Yeon Park (a National Heritage Fellow and the artistic director of the Korean Performing Arrts Center), Rick Luftgrass (Executive Director of the Laurie M Tisch Illumination Fund and CTMD Board Member), and Janette Sadik-Khan (Commissioner for the New York City Department of Transportation). The night will be rounded out with cocktails, dinner, dancing, and, a special musical performances by the Secret Trio (Ara Dinkjian-oud, Ismail Lumanovski-clarinet, Tamer Pinabashi-kanun/Turkish zither).
Recorded in the 1960's and 70's by CTMD-founders Martin Koenig and Ethel Raim, the historic 13-part Balkan Arts Series opens up the Center's rich 45-year old archive, featuring some of the most exciting field recordings of traditional folk music yet to emerge from Bulgaria, East Serbia, Greek Macedonia and Thrace, and Romania.
