Duluth rock band Cloud Cult will be doing a two-night residency at the Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis.
The group just released the soundtrack to the film The Great Alone, so it’s fitting that they’ve booked the Orchestra Hall. For this tour, only some selected venues were chosen to showcase their The Great Alone release, including the sold-out Lincoln Center Appel Room and Viroqua, WI’s Historic Temple Theatre (also sold out).
What sets the Orchestra Hall show apart is that Cloud Cult will be joined by the Minnesota Symphony Orchestra.
Also, if you’ve ever seen the band, in addition to the live music, they bring with them two artists who will paint for the duration of the show. At the end, fans can walk away owning a piece of original artwork… very unique for a rock band.

Baths (aka Will Wiesenfeld) is back in town on Saturday. We caught Baths in Jun 2013 and wrote, “Garnering much praise and adoration from major music blogs and online outlets, including a Best New Music badge from Pitchfork, Baths has been riding high as a result. I didn't even recognize Baths' Will Wiesenfeld as he took the stage on Wednesday night at the Triple Rock. Long gone are his chop sideburns and he looked noticeably thinner.”

We caught Nap Eyes Oct 2017 and noted, “With only two albums under their belt, the band played a good mix of both albums, including ‘Mixer’ from Thought Rock Fish Scale and ‘Dark Creedence’ from Whine of the Mystic. Both albums are available on Paradise of Bachelors.”

Local S. Carey is ending his tour with a homecoming gig at the Cedar Cultural Center In Minneapolis.
Sydney-via-Canowindra Gordi (aka Sophie Payten) will open the show. Her debut record Reservoir came out last year on Jagjaguwar. We saw Gordi in Jun 2016 and said, “ Since Gordi is touring in support of her debut EP Clever Disguise (Jagjaguwar), this was her first time in Minneapolis, and they seemed really pleased at the turnout. Her songs are quiet, luckily the audience was respectful and listened to the folky (with a touch of electronica) songs.”

Ty Segall and his all-new Freedom Band will be headlining First Avenue’s mainroom this Saturday. Segall is one of the most diverse guitarist and songwriter, so expect something new with the Freedom Band, vs his previous band The Muggers. We saw Segall & the Muggers in Mar 2016 and said that “With his eighth studio Emotional Mugger, album via Drag City Records, we see Ty Segall at his most experimental and more focused on setting a certain style and theme with the new album.”
