You know I rock out to "Party All The Time" by Eddie Murphy. I guess the comedian/actor/musician's latest venture in music is of the reggae variety. His latest single, "Oh Jah Jah" will be coming out January 27th, 2015, via VPAL Music.

Apparently this is not the first time Murphy dipped in the reggae genre, having collaborated with Snoop Lion (Snoop Dogg) on his song "Red Light".

Rolling Stone recently chatted with Eddie Murphy and gets the exclusive scoop about the new single.

Coming back into music after 20 years, you've done two reggae songs. . .
That's a misconception. I stopped putting music out 20 years ago. I've never stopped making music. I've always had a facility for recording at the house. I've stayed in the studio for years and years. Twenty years ago there was a bunch of mother****** just putting records out that was actors. I didn't want to be one of these motherf****** dropping tracks on some ego shit, trying to be the actor-singer. It always looks weird when you see the actor singing in the video. You're always gonna be like, "What the fuck is this?" I didn't want to be part of it. I'm not trying to get no paper, or get more famous off of this. I just do it, and I love doing it.

Comedian Ari Shaffir will be taking over the Comedy Central airwaves this winter with three premieres: the world premiere of one-hour stand-up special Ari Shaffir: Paid Regular debuts Friday, January 16 at Midnight, followed by the premiere of storytelling stand-up series This Is Not Happening on Thursday, January 22 at 12:30 am. Shaffir rounds it out with the network television premiere of his first one-hour stand-up special Ari Shaffir: Passive Aggressive, on Friday, March 13 at Midnight ET/PT.

If you love Shaffir, Comedy Central is where it is at. If you hate him, good luck avoiding him...

About Paid Regular:

Shaffir’s second one-hour special, Paid Regular, is a tribute to his origins as a stand-up comic. Shot in the Original Room of The World Famous Comedy Store in Hollywood, California, the special shows Shaffir at home on stage as he explores the “hackiness” of racism, camping on mushrooms, UFC fights on acid, and all the small ways you too can challenge authority.

Ari Shaffir: Paid Regular will be available on January 17 in the Comedy Central App to fans that sign in via their cable or satellite provider. The Comedy Central App is available for free for iOS on the App Store, for Android on the Google Play store, and for Xbox One. The “Paid Regular” album will also be available on January 20.

Lawyer-turned-comedian Paul Mecurio will be releasing It's Not Me, It's the World this February 3rd, 2015.

His biography lists:

Rhode Island-born Paul Mecurio has a remarkable resume, with Emmy and Peabody awards for his work on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, as well as having his own comedy series, regular stand-up appearances, and a Comedy Channel special. He graduated to comedy after gaining a law degree and working as an investment banker, and currently hosts The Paul Mecurio Show, an iTunes podcast. With all that under his belt, it’s perhaps a surprise that it’s taken so long for his recording debut to appear. Expect plenty of the humor that’s made him a household name.

Mecurio regularly appear at Stand Up in New York, with various comedians like Bob Dibuono, Joe List, Jackie Kashian, and Chris Gethard.

Two drinks minimum, of course.

I have a few hours to kill before heading out to see Bat for Lashes tonight at the Varsity Theater. So I thought it would be cool if I update you on what's happening at the W♥M headquarters.

What's on my playlist is Eddie Murphy and Peter Murphy, because of that Tale of Two Murphys article I wrote earlier this week. I just find the Eddie Murphy song, "Party All The Time" to be too hilarious for its own good. I mean, check out that cover of the single, it says "I'm hawt sh**!".

In the mid-80s, Murphy wanted a career in music, unfortunately it never quite happened for him.... but this single, written and produced by "I'm Rick James, b****" Rick James & Kevin Johnston, was a sure hit for the comic actor-turn musician.

Ryan will be the special guest for the colossal episode #50 of W♥M Radio, we're taping tomorrow, Saturday, and the show will be made available for download that Sunday - pending if I can sort it all out with the recording and editing software. We will be talking about the early days (yes, all six months ago...) as well as what's going with the state of music. Will be fascinating, tune in!
