Rachel Schroeder's Stay Tuned EP release party was at Club Underground in Minneapolis last night, September 20th.
To help her celebrate, she's joined by The Jelly Project, Turn Back Now!, Fuzzy Machete, and I Am Fuzz. I only managed to catch the 'fuzz' bands, starting with I Am Fuzz, which is basically John Lutz in a bra (or as Kramer would call it, 'the bro'). He played songs about alcohol/whiskey and being a punk rocker. For the last two songs, they replaced the drummer (Ben Brueland) and they ended their set with a cover of Fiona Apple's "Criminal" (which is kind of ironic, considering 'he is the fuzz').
Since we last saw geek-band Fuzzy Machete, they seemed to have lost their singer (singing duties fell back to bassist Krissandra), and now they seemed to have a new drummer called Robin.
According to their setlist, these songs were played "Dr Who", "Enjoy the Ride", "TV is Awesome", "Gamera", "Time Killer", "The Cage", "Hey Little Fascist", "Behind the Counter", "LEGOS", "Leaf", "Mad", and "Drunk".
In between bands, Rachel Schroeder played very brief (four songs) sets. The first set included some new songs from Stay Tuned, ("Missing Heart") and her very first written song, "I Love the Rain". Her father (Dave Schroeder) actually stepped in to help her play a medley of cover-lover songs, starting with Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'" and mixing in Beatles, Red Hot Chili Pepper, Alphaville, and Eagle-Eye Cherry.
