Here are some shows taking place in the Minneapolis/St Paul area on October 22, 2016.
NOTE: The “I Love The ‘90s” show will be at the Target Center on this date. We don’t get invitations to these big shows, but I thought it was important enough to mention - especially if you love Vanilla Ice or Salt N Pepa.

GROUPLOVE
at First Avenue
Saturday, 10/22/16, 7pm ($26)
first-avenue.com
Grouplove (singer/guitarist Christian Zucconi, keys Hannah Hooper, guitarist Andrew Wessen, drummer Ryan Rabin, and bassist Daniel Gleason) will be headlining First Avenue’s mainroom. The Los Angeles group has come a long way since we first saw them at the Fine Line 2011.
Grouplove’s third studio album Big Mess is out now on Canvasback and Atlantic.
Be sure to show up early to check out Muna and Dilly Dally. We caught the latter in April 2016 and it turned out to be one of the most memorable shows we saw this year.

TEENAGE FANCLUB
at Fine Line Music Cafe
Saturday, 10/22/16, 8pm ($20)
finelinemusic.com
Can you believe that it’s been more than six years since Teenage Fanclub last toured? Don’t miss their upcoming rare Minneapolis appearance this Saturday, October 22nd. The last time they were in Minneapolis, it was October 7th, 2010, with Radar Brothers, at First Avenue. Before 2010? It was with Radiohead at the State Theatre on August 5th, 1997.
The Scottish alternative band will be playing tracks from their new album Here (Merge Records), plus classic “hits” from their 90s catalog.
If you come to the show - look for some great merchandise, including a Teenage Fanclub patch (which I will be purchasing in multiple quantities).
Sam Evian to open.

NOTS
at Eagles Club #34
Saturday, 10/22/16, 9pm ($)
minneapoliseagles34.org
Memphis’ Nots will be in town this Saturday, October 22nd, at the Eagles Club #34 in Minneapolis. The last time the girls were in town, it was at a house show (as we previously mentioned in 2014). The girl group band is promoting their album Cosmetic, available on Goner Records.
Talking to Rookie Magazine, Natalie Hoffmann talked what they love on tour, “When you tour, you drive so much. It’s so many long drives, and you find yourself really expanding what kind of music you want to listen to. For us, we listened to a bunch of punk music at first and we were really excited, and then we started to feel that tour haze and we would just listen to long psychedelic albums. A lot of the songs are written while I was staring out the window riding in the car, or while I’m driving I’ll be thinking about a song and then I’ll write it down later. So just being on the road and seeing America in such a particular way has had a big effect on all of us.”
LH, Butcher's Union and TBA, to open. In case you were wondering, Butcher’s Union is Paddy and Billy from Dillinger Four with Christy from Pink Mink, Shawn from Gay Witch Abortion, and Scott from United Teachers of Music. Restriction: 21+.
