Read More Family of the Year Los Angeles-based buzz band Family of The Year continues their trek across the country, with The Mowgli’s, bringing a taste of Southern California to the Triple Rock Social Club in Minneapolis, on Saturday April 13 .....
|
Family of the Year opened their two month U.S. tour at the House of Blues in New Orleans Sunday March 17th before a small but enthusiastic crowd.
Lead singer Joe Keefe provided soft but substantial vocals throughout the performance. The group also produces beautiful blended harmonies with the help of Sebastian Keefe (his brother) and Christina Schroeter. The band started the set hard, driving songs, "The Stairs" and "Diversity", to get the crowd going. Then they transitioned into a very catchy island love song "St. Croix" that demonstrated the great range of sounds and moods that the band can deliver. Next was a series of well done ballads, "Find It", "Everytime", "Hey Ma", and their hit tune "Hero". The band has their own unique sound within the Americana, Folk/Indie genre, with hints of Simon and Garfunkel and Pink Floyd. They finished the set with a song entitled In the End, which highlights their signature sound and contains thought provoking lyrics that stay with you for days to come.
Most of their songs came off their July 2012 release Loma Vista that will instantly become one of your favorites for 2013.
Bonus Feature: It was St. Patricks Day and me and Pops had dinner at HOB before the show with the lead singer Joe Keefe and the lone lady in the band Christina Schroeter. We hooked them up with plenty of beads!
