All-girls punk trio The Coathangers is back in town, this time headlining the 7th Street Entry to support their new EP Parasite on Suicide Squeeze Records. There is a limited pressing of only 2,000 copies (with one-sided 12” etching on Sea Green vinyl), so be sure to grab a copy when you see them on this tour.

The last time we saw them in 2015, we wrote, “The band seemed to be having as much fun as the crowd. All members had come to the stage equipped with beverages including a bottle of wine. CK joked that they were allowing themselves a drink every two songs, but after a few tunes the “rule” didn’t stick and she started taking healthy swigs out of the wine bottle whenever she wanted.”

Comedy duo Tim & Eric (Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim) is currently on a “Tim & Eric 10 Year Anniversary Awesome Tour!”

We previously caught Tim’s sold out comedy show at the Cedar in 2015 and wrote, “The first part of his show is truly unique to our show, he's written a few Minneapolis-specific jokes, including buying "mini-sodas" and "mini-apples". The Minneapolis music jokes of Hüsker Don't and the original Replacements got a big laugh. Of course, when the obvious choice of Prince came up, he said there was just too much respect there to joke about.”

The Piano Man has decided to hit the road again—

After a bit of a falling out with former touring partner Elton John,  then being established as the “4^th Franchise” at NYC’s legendary Madison Square Garden where he continues a semi-regular residency (making the fans come to him) Billy Joel has decided to venture out again, for a handful of selected dates outside his native NYC, including a local stop at Target Center in Minneapolis on Saturday, May 16.

Though touring with no new material, fans will be no doubt receptive to Joel, who helped inaugurate Target Center with four sold-out shows in 1990.  It will be his tenth time playing the local venue, where he last played solo in 1999, the same year he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and where he ranks #2 (after Garth, I’m assuming) in all-time tickets sold at the venue, with over 171,000 total.

The local announcement was made into such an event, that a cryptic picture was posted on social media, and the press were summoned for a rare 10am. news conference to announce the details.  With the Target Center entering its 25^th year as an entertainment/sports venue and building renovations soon to announce, this could be the start of many high-profile reveals.

College Humor - We Didn't Start the Flame War

College Humor

Pretty busy today (note: so busy that I started the sentence without a pronoun). Just a few quick notes, say hi to new writers/contributors: Kateg, Artie, Carl, and Bill. They are doing a great job, picking up my slack. By the way, our pending list is still too large. If things goes as plan, I will produce four reviews this Sunday.

As for today, I will be in St Paul most of the day. I'm hoping to squeeze in seeing the new Star Trek film, which I'll have to say, I've been looking forward to this for a long time. Check out this hilarious The Onion's report.

Speaking of videos, I'm sure by now you've all seen the College Humor's "We Didn't Start the Flame War", a parody of Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start the Fire". The video went viral in mid-April, but to be honest, I had already seen it via my podcast subscription. It's not safe for work, but I think it's pretty funny. Includes some fun 'net slangs like ROFLCOPTER, pwnage, and rick rolled.

I never thought of this sketch comedy podcast as music-related, but they seem to have a lot of original music videos. Perhaps it has something to do with MTV funding their "The CollegeHumor Show"? I think I have MTV on my cable, but I wouldn't know because I don't actually watch television. All the shows I watch are either on hulu or abc.

Anyway, some of the funnier music videos are "Learning Guitar to Get Laid" and "Stop Carlos Mencia: A Rock Ballad".
