Most Americans only know K-Pop (Korean Pop) music through Psy, who blew up with ‘Gangnam Style’... but he’s not a represented of a typical K-Pop band. Since K-Pop heavily borrow their looks and sound from J-Pop (Japanese Pop), usually bands are all pretty girls or all pretty boys. They are performers, they have dance routines and they put on a fun, pop concert.
If you want to see an upcoming K-Pop show, there is a brand new band called H.U.B. (“Hope U Bounce”), who is making a stop at the Cedar Cultural Center in Minneapolis tomorrow. This is an all-ages show, so show up a little early than usual to see a K-Pop show (normally these bands don’t tour the Midwest).
We cover mostly indie-rock music, but when we saw this show, we knew we had to take this rare opportunity to see this group.
The Minneapolis date is only one of four debut U.S. tour from the “Girl Gang” group.
Rio de Janeiro, by the way of South Korea, JC Park will open the show.

Popular K-Pop boy band BTS recently changed their name to “Beyond the Scene” from “Bulletproof Boy Scouts”. I personally don’t have a problem with this, because it makes sense to me with the “T”.... and I didn’t quite like the bulletproof imagery of guns and bullets. Unfortunately, longtime fans who grew up calling them the Bulletproof Boyscouts are upset about the name change.
Fortunately, it’s only in America. Korean still know BTS as 방탄소년단 and Bangtan Sonyeondan.
