FEAR OF MEN
at 7th Street Entry
Saturday, 07/09/16, 8pm ($12/$14)
first-avenue.com
Brighton’s Fear of Men is headlining the 7th Street Entry in support of their sophomore album Fall Forever (Kanine Records). NPR noted that “it pulls the listener in several directions at once only to land on a sweet spot every time.”
As usual, we love UK bands and will undoubtedly try and cover their Minneapolis show, despite the fact that we may already be too busy covering the annual Basilica Block Party Music Festival.
Touring with Fear of Men will be Puro Instinct, featuring two sisters Piper and Skylar. They started their musical career fairly early in 2011 (with Piper turning 22 and Skylar at 15) touring with Ariel Pink for their debut album Headbangers in Ecstacy.
This time, Puro Instinct’s new album Autodrama was set to release with Skylar’s graduation from LACHSA: “As soon as I was out of school, I found that I was inspired by sound in an entirely new way. We decided to spearhead the production of the record ourselves and it was interesting how the arrangements helped convey aspects of ourselves that weren't easily expressed through language. I was drawn to the spatial relationships between the sounds, the warped rhythms, the melody ideas. It was important to produce everything in a way that felt all encompassing, like peering into a diamond of our truths, recollections, worries, fantasies.”
Also local Wetter is listed to open. This is a very new band - their second ever live show just took place June 19th at the Reverie Cafe + Bar.

DENTIST
at Reverie Cafe
Saturday, 07/09/16, 8pm ($3)
reveriempls.com
Stereogum called New Jersey’s Dentist as “math-rock”, but also “variations of energy and aesthetic.” Just an opinion, but why would you call your band a name often associated with pain and unwanted visits? And also: hard to find on Google.
The band will be in town at the Reverie Café & Bar (right at the start of “Eat Street” on Nicollet and Franklin), playing some tracks from their LP Ceilings (Little Dickman Records).
For $3, you also get a good ‘filling’ of: Battle Toys, Edward the Confessor, Jacob Champlain & the Blue Jays, and Comedian/MC Mike Early.
