* Supporting The Cure
I just got this press release about 65Daysofstatic being hand-picked by The Cure to support them in their fall tour. First of all: The Cure is alive and well?!??! I swear every album that The Cure released, Robert Smith have sworn it is their last album (until the next one comes along!)
So naturally, I checked out this band to see if they're any good.
I listened to some of their tracks off their website. I kept waiting for the singer to come in... but it never happened.
As it turned out, they're an instrumental band. They're from Sheffield, England, and matokie's favorite magazine, Kerrang describes them as "utterly peerless".
The two songs I have for review is really long (seven minutes each), so they're not very radio friendly. "When We Were Younger & Better" starts off loud with the drums and levels off with some guitars and bass. It eventually ends with some piano/keyboard sound.
Anyway, before they join up with The Cure, they are doing mini-tour. I'm only familar with the Bottom of the Hill bar (which is 21+ show), so I'm assuming the rest of the venues are tiny.
By the way, since they're going nowhere near Minneapolis, you guys are going to have to let me know if they're great live or not. I would hazard a guess that they're intense live.
