This may be a little late, as we noted that singer/songwriter Peter Sarstedt died last week on January 8th at the age of 75.
The beloved English songwriter was briefly known as Peter Lincoln, before changing it back to his given surname, standing beside his two musician brothers: Eden Kane and Clive “Robin” Sarstedt.
Perhaps his best-known song is ‘Where Do You Go To (My Lovely)?’, which topped the UK charts in 1969.
Sarstedt returned in 2010 due to ill health.
Also, Dick Gautier has passed away at the 85 on January 13th. Although many readers may know Gautier as Hymie the Robot from Get Smart (or possibly as the voice of Rodimus Prime from Transformers The Movie in 1986)... but did you know he started his career as a comic and singer? His singing ability led him to being cast as Conrad Birdie in the original Broadway theatre production of Bye Bye Birdie.
Gautier mostly stuck to voice-over work for cartoons, and would later be recognized as an artist. He wrote several books on the matter, including Drawing and Cartooning 1,001 Figures in Action (Perigee Books) and Creating Comic Characters (Perigee Books).
Gautier died at an assisted living facility in Arcadia, California, following a long illness.
