London-based Bear’s Den is on a sold-out USA tour, in support of their sophomore album Red Earth & Pouring Rain (Communion Records).
Opening up the show was Nashville, by the way of Georgia, Liza Anne, playing tracks from mostly her second album, appropriately titled second album Two.
Although Anne is young (age 20), her songs showcased stories that would suggest she has experienced more than most people her age. This is thanks to her constant touring and travels.
British alternative rock band Bear’s Den sold out their entire 2016 US tour.
As we previously mentioned the band has quite a fanbase in the Minneapolis area because they were seen with Mumford & Sons in 2013. The following year, the band headlined the Turf Club in March 2014 and Triple Rock Social Club in August 2014... and, the third time’s the charm, with the Fine Line in October 2014. Each time, their fanbase grew and grew, because of word of mouth.
Originally the band was a trio, consisting of singer/guitars Andrew Davie, bassist/drummer Kevin Jones, and guitarist Joey Haynes... but as of February 2016, Haynes left the band, citing he needed to spend more time with his family and friends.
Despite not having Haynes involvement, Bear’s Den is back, stronger than ever. As you can see from the live photo, they’ve added three additional live session musicians, playing everything from the banjo to rhythm guitars, bass, or sound production.
As you can see from the setlist, about half were from the new album Red Earth & Pouring Rain, mixed with fan-favorites from their debut Islands. Obviously, the older tracks, such as ‘Elysium’ and set closer ‘Above the Clouds of Pompeii’ and encore set finale ‘Agape’ were incredibly well-received. The two latter songs were nominated for the Ivor Novello Award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically (2015) and UK Americana Awards for Song of the Year, respectively.
Although the band just wrapped up their US tour, they’re back in the UK resuming their world tour in about two week.
