THE KILLS
at First Avenue
Wednesday, 05/25/16, 7:30pm ($30)
first-avenue.com
British/American duo The Kills (Alison "VV" Mosshart and guitarist Jamie "Hotel" Hince) is back in the US! You may recall they were so amazing last year and that we reported that they were working on a fifth studio album for Domino Records... The forthcoming album (set for June 3, 2016) will be called Ash & Ice.
Ash & Ice is available to pre-order now on 2xLP, CD, and digital download. Pre-order digitally and receive “Doing It To Death” and “Heart Of A Dog” instantly.
Los Angeles’ all-girls trio L.A. Witch (Sade Sanchez, Irita Pai, and Ellie English) will open all North American shows. The ‘60s garage/psychedelic band has been compared to Gun Club, The Black Angels and Brian Jonestown Massacre ... we’re big fans of these bands, so L.A. Witch is definitely in great company.
L.A. Witch’s latest Drive Your Car 7” is out now via Ruined Vibes / Blass Mass Recordings.

ROGUE WAVE
at Turf Club
Wednesday, 05/25/16, 7:30pm ($16/$18)
turfclub.net
Rogue Wave (not to be confused with Minneapolis’ Rogue Valley) will be in St Paul next Wednesday; touring in support of Delusions of Grand Fur.
We last saw Rogue Wave in 2013, and wrote, “For the encore, Zach and company came back on stage to hand out flowers to fans. After 'Cheaper Than Therapy', they announced that the show in Minneapolis was the last night that Caveman was touring with them, so Caveman were invited on stage to help sing the Duran Duran cover of 'Rio'.”
Seattle’s Hey Marseilles will open, in support of their self-titled third studio album (Shanachie Entertainment). We actually got to hear a lot of those new songs when they appeared with Mates of State in 2015.

VÉRITÉ
at 7th Street Entry
Wednesday, 05/25/16, 7:30pm ($12)
first-avenue.com
Vérité (the stage name for Kelsey Byrne) will be in Minneapolis next Wednesday, May 25th, in support of her new 2016 EP Living.
Vérité talked about the EP, “Living was written in the wake of 'Sentiment' and after the first tour. It was the first time I had been able to dedicate all of my time to the project and writing. If I'm being honest, it was really uncomfortable and oddly exhausting and forced me to over analyze my writing and process in a way I wasn't used to. The EP takes these tiny moments and magnifies and over analyzes them until they are unrecognizable. The idea was to present an unadulterated look into how my mind works. Sonically, I tried to elevate and push away from what is traditionally 'alternative electro pop' or whatever labels I had been associated with. I worked with a different producer for each song, which in the beginning was unintentional but became a challenge. The goal was to tie in those conflicting perspectives to sound like one cohesive voice. Ultimately this started as an experiment in how to deal with and interact with time. Hoping that people can resonate with it in any way.”
Lost Boy Crow (stylized as LostBoyCrow) to open. The Los Angeles singer/songwriter recently released ‘Thursday’ single, which you can hear via soundcloud.com.
