It’s common to hear people passing at the age of 70 to cancer or some other illness... but it’s rare to hear about someone who died under the age of 30.
Earlier in January, the youngest musician to die was Craig Strickland, of Backroad Anthem, he was 29. He went out duck hunting with a friend in a middle of a blizzard... both died to hypothermia.
In February, we got a couple of young people’s deaths, Alt Press passed along a note that Valleys’ Mikey Clement died in a car accident at the age of 23 on the morning of February 5th.
The official statement mentioned that they had to cancel their February 10th show, but will go ahead with their planned album release party for Experiment One: Asylum:
She was in a recording session on Friday and was meant to come in on Saturday... but she never showed up. After repeated calls went unanswered, her mother went to her apartment and found her dead in her bed. Manoramaonline.com reported that she probably died due to “epileptic seizures”... but official autopsy report said cardiac arrest, according thenewsminute.com.

As of right now, we are going to cancel our February 10th concert with Fleshgod Apocalypse at The Rock Shop. All other dates and shows are still happening as planned. On February 12th, we will have our Experiment One: Asylum CD release party. This show will also be a big tribute show for Mikey. We need all of our fans and friends to come out and show love for not just VALLEYS but for Mikey. At this show, VALLEYS will be joined by many of our closest musical friends to part take in guest vocals on stage. We will announce all that later this week.
Also joining the under 30 death club, singer and music composer Shan Johnson unexpectedly died around Saturday night (February 6th) at the age of 29. Her songs appeared in Malayalam and Tamil movies, but she recently made the jump to music composer for the film His Name is John in 2013.
