GABE DOUGLAS
with MrDr and Grammar
at 7th Street Entry
Wednesday, 02/10/16, 8pm ($6/$8)
first-avenue.com
Gabe Douglas (singer of the 4onthefloor) has a show on February 10th. Billed as “Gabe Douglas and Friends”, the show will feature two other local acts:
MrDr: Described as an alternative country guitar duo of Stacy K and Dave Dave Mehling.
Grammar: An indie-folk band (not to be confused with London Grammar), they play “sweet melodies and rich harmonies with jarring knife-to-the-gut lyrical and instrumental moments..... At least, that's what they want you to believe.”
For fans of the 4onthefloor, check out their upcoming tour dates:

COEUR DE PIRATE
with tiny deaths
at Cedar Cultural Center
Thursday, 02/11/16, 7pm ($18/$20)
thecedar.org
Cœur de pirate’s first two albums sold over a million copies, thanks to the viral video from Francis Vachon (using Cœur de pirate’s "Ensemble"). The video was shown on Good Morning America, Perez Hilton's website, The Globe and Mail, etc.
By 2013, she was approached to work on the Canadian drama series Trauma, and started working in other media.
I first came on Cœur de pirate’s work when I played Child of Light and couldn’t believe how great the soundtrack was!
Cœur de pirate (real name Béatrice Martin) will be in Minneapolis next Thursday as part of her tour for her third album Rose. The new album is said to be a little darker, but I feel it will have a little flavor of Swedish pop – especially in the hands of producer Bjorn Yttling (Peter Bjorn and John, Franz Ferdinand, Lykke Li).
Opening up for the Cedar show will be local tiny deaths (Claire de Lune). We’ve previously seen Claire a few times, the last being at the Little Fevers show on 21 November 2015.

THE CACTUS BLOSSOMS
with Spider John Koerner, Icicles
at the Turf Club
Friday, 02/12/16, 8pm ($12/$15/Sold Out)
turfclub.net
The first time we saw this Minneapolis-based brother duo The Cactus Blossoms (Page Burkum and Jack Torrey), we were surprised just how “country and western” their music was! It would seem with their latest album You're Dreaming (Red House Records), that the band has built up quite a local following - having sold out their double Turf Club album release shows.
Opening up the first night will be Spider John Koerner and closing out the night will be The Icicles (not to be confused with sugar-sweet indiepop The Icicles).
