Django Django Setlist

Django Django is currently touring in the USA in support of their latest Born Under Saturn (Because Music, Ribbon Music). Since the band was already playing Chicago's Lollapalooza Music Festival, they've decided to stop by Minneapolis' First Avenue on Saturday, August 2nd, to bring the "People of Minnesota" their unique dance/rock music.
Beat Connection opened up the show. We've previously seen the Seattle-based band in 2012, touring in support of their album The Palace Garden, and was rather impressed with their fanbase, who danced to all their songs.
While the band hadn't toured or promoted anything since 2012, they recently announced signing to ANTI- Records and will be releasing a new album in 2015, so they were excited to preview some new tracks like "Rosaline", which singer Tom asked if there were anyone named that in the audience. "There's been many imposters, but we have not found the real Rosaline. She's out there, I'm sure."
They ended their 40-min set with "The Palace Garden 4am", with a heartfelt line "take me to the river, let me show you."
"People of Minnesota... it's been two and a half years since we were last here," said singer/guitarist Vincent Neff of Django Django. He's not wrong, I couldn't believe that it's been that long since Django was last in town.
Since we last saw them, they've released Born Under Saturn in May 2015 and added a much needed new songs into their existing set from 2013.... resulting in over 45 minutes of upbeat, dance-y music.
Just when you didn't think they could get anymore funky, Neff introduced "Lucas on saxophone!" Lucas added this weird organic sound to "First Light".
For "Love's Dart" and "Slow West", Neff switched from guitars to acoustic, admitting that the former song was their "slowest song." While that served as a nice break midway into their set, the fans seemed more interested in the upbeat songs, like "Firewater" that followed.
Biggest hit of the night was for "Default", and before you knew it, they were closing their set with "WOR". Near the end, Neff announced that they had a few days to kill in Minneapolis and would "hit the bars tonight" and asked us for some suggestions on where to go. They seem very approachable... and I wouldn't be surprise to learn later that they would hang out with their fans at a local bar.
Of course, they came back on for the double song encore, "4000 Years" and "Silver Rays". The former also featured the sax from Lucas.
