SAY ANYTHING
at First Avenue
Friday, 07/17/2015, 7pm ($18)
first-avenue.com
This upcoming Say Anything is like a mini-music festival. The Texas band, who previously was in town last year, but is currently on tour on support of their sixth studio album Hebrews, out now on Equal Vision Records.
Philadelphia's Modern Baseball on tour for You're Gonna Miss It All and San Jose's Hard Girls (all boys) will open the show.
The only band we've previously seen and loved is Cymbals Eat Guitars, currently on tour for their third album Lose, available now on Barsuk (US) and Tough Love Records (EU). We previously seen CEG with Cursive in 2012, and Los Campesinos! in 2010.

INDIGO GIRLS w/ Michelle Malone
at Minnesota Zoo Amphitheater
Friday, 07/17/2015, 7pm ($54)
suemclean.com
Indigo Girls is back with their latest One Lost Day (IG Recordings/Vanguard Records). We previously caught Amy Ray solo at the Turf Club in 2012 and at the Fine Line Music Café in 2008, but it is very good to have her back with Emily Sailers as the duo Indigo Girls.
Opening at Weesner Ampitheatre (at the Minnesota Zoo) on Friday, July 17th, will be Michelle Malone, in support of her new album Stronger Than Your Think (which comes out July 14th).
Malone's latest single, "When I Grow Up", taken from the new album, was co-written with Kristian Bush of Sugarland whom Michelle spent the last year touring with the band.
If you were wondering about the Indigo Girls connection, Amy Ray co-wrote and appeared on Malone's song "I Don't Wanna Know". If I was a betting man, I would put some money on Malone's set will feature Ray coming on to play on that song! We'll find out July 17th!
