I'm pretty excited to let you know that Boston's Freezepop will be doing a very small three-show Midwest tour this week - starting on Thursday at Subterranean in Chicago and ending on Saturday at the Nether Bar (the bar underneath Mill City Nights) in Minneapolis. I've never been to a show where both stages are occupied at the same time, but above the Nether Bar, at the main stage at Mill City Nights will feature Irish punk band Stiff Little Fingers (on tour in support of their #1 UK Rock album No Going Back) scheduled to be on stage at the same time.
If you haven't been keeping up, we are big fans of the synthpop band Freezepop, since "discovering" them from our old Guitar Heroes games. Currently the band's lineup is Liz, Sean, Robert "Bananas" and Marie "Christmas".
Check out this new remix of "Strange" by Eloquent via soundcloud.com.
Can get enough? You can also get their free Covers EP if you sign up for their mailing list (which I am already a member). As a cover lover, I appreciate the seven covers - including the "Jem Theme"*.
Details of the Midwest Tour:
* Trivia: Did you know that Britta from Luna is the singing voice of Jem? I believe she provided all the vocal tracks for all the Jem songs.
We previously saw her in Dean & Britta at First Avenue in 2013, but they will be back as Luna on October 17th at the Cedar. Can't wait to hear them play "Slash Your Tires".
Also, I'm kind of curious about the upcoming Jem and the Holograms movie. It should be truly, truly, truly outrageous.
