TYCHO w/ Beacon
at First Avenue
Sunday 03/22/15, 7:30pm ($20)
first-avenue.com
We caught Tycho at the Varsity Theater in 2012, which, at the time, I was surprised that they've already been to Minneapolis five times at that point! Although the band was previously in Minneapolis in April (with Gems), they like the city enough to come back next week, March 22nd, in support of their latest album Awake, which frontman Scott Hansen said, "This is, in many ways, the first true Tycho record."
Opening up for Tycho will be Brooklyn's Beacon (Thomas Mullarney and Jacob Gossett). We caught the duo in 2012 and noted that they had a huge buzz when they recently signed to the Ghostly International label.

MAROON 5
at Xcel Energy Center
Monday 03/23/15, 6:30pm ($40-$140)
xcelenergycenter.com
We've already mentioned about Maroon 5's fifth studio album V (Interscope Records) earlier this January 2015. The band is currently on tour in support of that album... and will be stopping in at Saint Paul's Xcel Energy Center. Tickets are on the expensive side, typical of these large arena shows.
Support acts will be Canadian reggae fusion band Magic! and San Francisco's Rozzi Crane.

THE DECEMBERISTS w/ Alvvays
at Northrop Auditorium
Tuesday 03/24/15, 7pm ($36 / Sold Out)
northrop.umn.edu
One of my favorite bands, The Decemberists will be in town at Northrop Auditorium next Tuesday. Naturally the band sold out most of their 2015 tour... truly it is both a 'terrible world' if you have not purchased tickets. We previously mentioned that the band is back with their seventh studio album, What a Terrible World, What a Beautiful World (out now on Capitol Records).
Opening up the show will be Alvvays, who we recently caught at the Turf Club on December 2014 and reported, "Although the band only has one album, you couldn’t ask for better surf-pop sweetness."
