Broods Setlist

New Zealand brother/sister duo Broods (Caleb Nott and Georgia Nott) is touring in support of their Capitol Records debut album Evergreen, stopping by the Fine Line Music Café on Monday, March 16th.
Louisiana's Mikky Ekko opened up the show, stressing that he only had three more shows with Broods... that he's become "close family" with the band and will definitely miss them.
Highlight from Ekko's set is "Stay", the Rihanna song featuring Ekko on guest vocals. The song got the biggest cheer from the crowd, and Mikko Ekko admitted that he's only recently started playing the song again... so this was a nice, rare opportunity to hear the song.
The rest of his very brief 30-min set, included tracks from his debut Time (RCA Records), including "U", "Love You Crazy", "Mourning Doves", and set closer "Smile".
Mikko Ekko's pop, soulful vocals did not go unnoticed, as several newfound fans in the front started shouting out, "Your voice is amazing!"
Broods took the stage at 9pm to play their entire album Evergreen, which came out last year, August 2014 on Capitol/Polydor Records. With their singles hitting the top 10 New Zealand singles chart and recently on an entire sold-out tour with Sam Smith, it's easy to see why the brother/sister group have sold out the majority of their US headline tour.
Georgia Nott was easily the front woman in the band, taking the spotlight singing and "sh*** dancing" her way on stage, while her brother Caleb Nott remained relatively in the background. Once in a while, you do hear him chime in.
Just prior to switching to keyboard for "Sleep Baby Sleep", Georgia mentioned that this was the group's very first time in Minneapolis, "It's such a cool word -- like some mythical creature."
As you can see from their setlist, they played all their songs from Evergreen, but throwing in some tracks from their self-titled EP, including
"Sleep Baby Sleep", "Taking You There", "Pretty Thing", and "Coattails". Making up the rest of their set were new (unreleased) songs, "Bedroom Door" and "Deep End". The latter, Georgia said that they felt it, "...would be weird to put it on our album."
Based on the strong audience participation and singing along and dancing... Expect Broods to come back to Minneapolis again on a future tour.
Mikky Ekko's last show with Broods will take place tonight, in Chicago. Joining Broods for the remainder of the tour will be Swedish R’n’B artist Erik Hassle.
