Sweet Ascent
Sweet Ascent is playing on Memorial Day Monday. The hardcore/rock band is based out of Lawrence, Kansas, and they were recently featured in Alternative Press (AP) Magazine in March 2014.
They are currently on tour for their latest EP, Hopeless Dreamers, which was 'an inspiring collection of professionally-produced songs.'
Opening up for this show are four, count 'em, four local bands: Ampherium, The Usual Things, The Modern Era, and Downstairs Attic.

Angelic Upstarts
As you know, I'm a Morrissey fan, so the name 'Angelic Upstarts' came to my attention when Morrissey was promoting the band in his music video for "The More You Ignore Me, The Closer I Get", in which a girl is seen wearing an Angelic Upstarts t-shirt.
Plus, during this tour, Moz had several Angelic Upstarts songs played pre and post shows, including "Never Had Nothin'", "Teenage Warning", "I'm An Upstart" and "Kids On The Streets".
Although the band's original lineup has obviously changed over time, through breaking up and reforming, etc., the current band feature Chris Wright (of the band Crashed Out) on vocals as requested by original singer Mensi.
So, if you're a hardcore Morrissey fan, or just fan of old oi UK punk music, you may want to check out this rare Angelic Upstarts appearance at the Triple Rock in Minneapolis this Wednesday, May 28th.

The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger (aka GOASTT) is fronted by Sean Lennon and Charlotte Kemp Muhl. I'm told that when they play live, it's going to be a full five-piece electric band. Opening up for many of their shows is Syd Arthur.
I've seen Sean Lennon, the son of John Lennon and Yoko Ono, a few times, for his solo tour and also as bassist for Cibo Matto.

Opening up this show are Miss Georgia Peach Band, Josh Berwanger Band, and KFAI Jazzed Up And Bonkers!! DJs.
If you go, expect to hear the hits, "Hanging on the Telephone" (which Blondie covered), "Walking Out On Love" (which Green Day covered), and "Rock N Roll Girl" (which the Muffs covered). Incidentally, did you know that the Muffs recently reformed?
