I saw Ivy at the 400 Bar in 2005 and complained that they didn't do any songs from their Apartment Life album, but the truth is Ivy played plenty of Apartment Life four years earlier at the same venue.
Also, I should point out that I'm misremembering things, because I picked up Long Distance album and t-shirt at this 2001 show, not the 2005 show (I mean: same band, same venue, I was bound to confuse the two.) I still have the T-Shirt, it's one of my favorite shirts and I wear it regularly. I would have the Long Distance CD in the photo, but ever since I digitalized my entire music collection, all my CDs and cassettes are in storage.
The thing about the 400 Bar was that I never bought advance tickets to their shows. The problem (at that time) was the lack of means of buying tickets without occurring extra charges in advance. For First Avenue and 7th Street, you could easily pick up tickets at any outlets like Down in the Valley. There was nothing like that for the 400 Bar, so the only way I bought tickets was showing up for the show on the day of the event. Thankfully, all the shows I went to didn't sell out.
Tickets to see Ivy at the 400 Bar on 10/24/2001 was $10, doors opened up 8pm.
As you can see from the setlist, the beginning and ending were good portion of Apartment Life, sandwiched in the middle were songs from Long Distance. The only songs from their debut Realistic played that night were "Get Enough" and "Shallow", which I'm fine with because it's not particularly my favorite album from the band.
I think Ivy is dead, their last single release Fascinated came out two years ago (2012) on Nettwerk with no communication on Ivy's Facebook page since September 2012. Their last live performance was at The Gramercy Theatre in New York on September 24, 2011.
Guitarist Adam Schlesinger is currently in Fountains of Wayne and Tinted Windows. Singer Dominique Durand and bassist Andy Chase are both in Paco, but that band seems inactive since 2011 as well.
Anyway, if Ivy comes back, you know I'll let you know.... in the meantime, I'm still rocking my Apartment Life in my T-Shirt.
