Burger Records, the independent record label that is popularizing cassettes, is currently taking some of their best bands on their Burgerama Caravan of the Stars Tour. They sold out their all-ages show at the Parish in Austin, Texas, on Saturday, October 12th.
Here's what was on the Burger Menu:
I love Burger records, they are hitting all the right marks on everything they are doing right now. From the crudely hand drawn pictures, usage of Cooper Bold font, to their BRGTV webshows. Some record labels have these music festivals (ie Gonerfest), but none of them take the festivals to you.
I went to the Burgerama tour in St. Paul, Minnesota, and I loved it. When they stopped in MN they had White Fang/Memories and Coleen Green play support hamburger helper style.
So I went to Austin for a second helping.
Curtis Harding from the ATL is the soul/blues hamburger helper here.
together Pangea is that Raw Punky California Burger (a personal favorite).
Gap Dream is that psychedelic burger that is stripped down to just mustard and onions.
Cosmonauts is the four piece pub style slider burger.
Of course you have the main course of the Growlers.
The Growlers is that organic grass-fed burger that all the free love people can feel good about eating.
Some Burger bands are a little cheesy, but that's why it's so fun to watch and experience the Burger Records Burgerama Caravan of Stars.
All the cheese comes with a wink of ironic flavor. Buy a tape, get some vinyl, and enjoy life.
