Telekinesis frontman Michael Benjamin Lerner likes Lucky Charms (but doesn’t eat them often), his favorite Telekinesis song to play for right now is "Empathetic People", and he thinks encores are awkward and strange. The question/answer session he opened with “do you have any questions for me?” three or four songs from the end of the set provided such information and was as entertaining and earnest as the rest of the Seattle-based band’s time on the Seventh Street Entry stage last night in Minneapolis.
Lerner was incredibly focused as he pounded his way through songs, pausing now and then to thank the audience for singing along (which they did, enthusiastically); to thank the Entry’s sound guy, Ron, for his work; and to implore the crowd to get home safely. Crowd favorites were "Dirty Thing", "I Cannot Love You", and the finale (remember, no encore) "Tokyo". Touring with opener and fellow Seattleites Deep Sea Divers, their next stops are Kansas City, Denver, and Salt Lake City in the coming week.
