This was Pert Near’s Ship of Fools 7” Release Party and a party is exactly what it was. This band brought the energy, the fun, and the talent to First Avenue on Friday night.
The show began with a viewing of the music video for the first single Ship of Fools from their upcoming album projected on the big screen. It continued with dancin’, hooting, hollering and foot stompin’! It’s apparent that this band loves playing together and the audience definitely enjoys hearing it because the energy in the main room was electric. There is so much variation in their sound, with a clogger, fiddles, a banjo, a washboard, a standup base, and acoustic guitars; it’s easy to appreciate their talent and to dance along to this bluegrass band’s jams. So next time you have a chance to attend one of their parties, pack your dancing shoes, and be prepared to walk away buzzing’ from the energy.
