DIVINE FITS
divinefits.com
“I wish that I was in Minneapolis”, Britt Daniel sings on the track ‘Would That Not Be Nice’ and his wish comes true as Divine Fits embarks on an upcoming U.S. Tour that includes Minneapolis on one of its stops, before hitting larger festival shows at Coachella and Bonnaroo later this summer.
The indie ‘super group’, formed from parts of Wolf Parade, Handsome Furs, New Bomb Turks, and the on-hiatus Spoon, is promoting their debut release, ‘A Thing Called Divine Fits’ (out now on Merge Records), produced by brilliant sonic twiddler Nick Launay who has worked with Nick Cave, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Arcade Fire, and countless others since the late 70s.
Spoon frontman Britt Daniel and Handsome Furs/Wolf Parade's Dan Boeckner share roughly half the vocal duties and the 11-song album, per the band’s website, “covers such topics as the death of true love, hitchhiking, cocoa butter, emotional distance, what happens when the curtain drops, and Minneapolis, MN.”
The April 4 date at the Varsity Theater is long sold out- a testament to the area appreciating the album’s inspiration in anticipation of what will no doubt be a very memorable show that will have locals talking, long after the performance.

ELEANOR FRIEDBERGER

Eleanor Friedberger (the half of the duo The Fiery Furnaces) announced that she will be hitting the road in support of her forthcoming, second solo album, Personal Record, coming out June 4th, 2013 (UK will have to wait until June 10th) on Merge Records.
Interesting to note that the new record is co-written with musician/novelist Wesley Stace, featuring love songs - but not really necessary about romantic love. Eleanor explains, "They’re also love songs to music: how you feel on stage when you do something spontaneous and it works, how you feel when you hear someone sing a song for the first time, what it's like to watch a friend perform, how you can feel close to someone you barely know because you both happen to love the same record, or playing the same song forty times in a row, not being able to rest until you own every song recorded by your favorite singer, or every version of your favorite song."
Touring with Friedberger will be live musicians Cassandra Jenkins and members of Icewater. Jenkins and Icewater will also act as third opener on selected dates. All North American dates will feature TEEN as support.
