Buke & Gase New York's Buke and Gase seemed happy to play, especially Arone (who plays the "buke", baritone/ukulele), because her mother was in the audience…

Buke and Gase are currently on tour in support of their latest album, General Dome, released last week on Brassland Records. The duo stopped by Minneapolis' 7th Street Entry to play to a pretty packed house.
The two Arone/Aron (pronounced the same "erin") was both dressed in black, but seemed cheery (Arone grew up in Minnesota, so she's always happy to be back home).
The last time I saw them, they only had about 30 minutes to play. Returning now as headliner, the band played over an hour and had plenty of time to experiment and breathe and chat a little with the audience. Surprisingly they were even more "experimental" sounding than I remember. Songs had heavy bass/guitar (from the "Gase") and Arone's vocals weaved in with Aron (he sings on more songs/backup than the previous time I saw them).
My favorite is whenever Arone is engaged with the audience. Arone does her best Minnesota accent and asked where the snow is - then she corrected that it's coming tomorrow when they leave.
Their best song from their set was "Cyclopean", which prior to playing the song, Arone asked, "Did I go to school with any of you?" (there were a few hand waves).
Buke & Gase continues their tour in support of General Dome. They wrap up the tour in San Diego on February 20th:
Feb. 11 - Denver, CO @ Walnut Room
Feb. 12 - Salt Lake City, UT @ Kilby Court
Feb. 14 - Vancouver, BC @ Media Club
Feb. 15 - Seattle, WA @ Barboza
Feb. 16 - Portland, OR @ Doug Fir Lounge
Feb. 18 - San Francisco, CA @ Café Du Nord
Feb. 19 - Los Angeles, CA @ The Echo
Feb. 20 - San Diego, CA @ The Casbah
