Read More The Faint I am actually kind of ashamed to admit to really liking The Faint's album, Danse Macabre, because it sounded so much like Information Society. I am excited to report that Saddle Creek will be reissuing the album in a Deluxe Edition format ...

There are very few bands that I will make it out in the winter to see. Driving in snow, dealing with parking, wearing extra heavy coats, let's face it: it's just not worth it. However, I do make rare exceptions, especially if I like a band enough.
I have agreed to see The Faint, coming to Minneapolis December 13th, near the end of their tour date. This will be the only time that I'll get to see The Faint play their best album, Danse Macabre, in its entirety live! Only a few songs from this album was played when I last saw The Faint, so I'm really looking forward to hearing "Let The Poison Spill From Your Throat" and "Total Job" live.
I got a chance to listen to the remastered Danse Macabre on high quality MP3, courtesy of the record label, Saddle Creek, and I have to say it was nice to revisit the album. I don't have golden ears, and I really couldn't tell the differences. I suppose the audio is slightly mixed up a little.
Take a look at the wave breakdown for the first 30 seconds of "Agenda Suicide" from the original album release and the new remastered audio - they look identical. The bottom two channels are from the remastered version and you will notice that the wave length is slightly bigger.
Like I said, the details are in the pudding, and blasting both songs on my headphones, I couldn't honestly tell you which song was remastered in a blind test.
Still, it's a nice excuse for you to pick up the album again. Especially because the new reissue comes with six bonus tracks from that time period. I haven't heard of the remixes before, and I was slightly annoyed by the 300 repeats of the words "control" in the Thin White Duke remix of "The Conductor." The most interesting (and best) b-side track is "Take Me To The Hospital", which I am assuming is sung by Todd Fink, but it sounded nothing like him. I hope they do that 'Hospital' song live, I can't wait to hear people singing back the spelling, "Won't you take me to the H take me to the O take me to the S take me to the P. I. T. A. L. Hospital."
Anyway, the Deluxe Edition of Danse Macabre is out now. You can get it in a variety of format, including unlimited digital and 5,000 copies for the 2xCD/DVD package and 3,000 copies for the 2xLP/2xCD/DVD package. Full details on saddle-creek.com (along with a free download.)
