The Dig played their Halloween gig at the 400 Bar in Minneapolis, last night, October 31st.
Not to be confused with the 90s alternative band called Dig, this indie band is currently on tour in support of their new album, Midnight Flowers, which came out earlier this year via Buffalo Jump Records.
We have been covering The Dig since their debut album, Electric Toys. We even sent out Lara to see them in person, and she reported back with this: "four hip kids with varying degrees of follicle fervor–shuffled around on stage like pros, dodging the suspect cables and maintaining a “look at me/don’t look at me” air. New York, eh? You don’t say."
The same four hip kids, but now based out of Los Angeles, returned to Minneapolis as part of their fall tour with The We Shared Milk. This time, the band brought a smoke machine to enhance the rainbow/primary color beams of light coming from behind them. The effect is cool.
As for shuffling, it was mostly between Emile Mosseri and David Baldwin, both sharing singing duties and alternating guitars and bass.
And with these new album tours, the band played selected songs from the new Midnight Flowers album, including "Red Rose in the Cold Winter Ground" and "Black Water" (per request from someone in the audience.)
Highlight was "You're Already Gone," a song that the band hadn't "played in a long time." Their drummer didn't know how to play it, so he sat out while the two bands played.
