Vivian Girls' bassist, Katy Goodman, brought her new project La Sera to One Eyed Jacks, New Orleans, in support of her second LP Sees the Light (released on March 26th through Hardly Art.) The last time she was in the grave city was with her main project Vivian Girls at Siberia, back in the spring. La Sera formed in 2010, where they toured the states in early 2011 with the released their self titled debut. La Sera toured with the likes of Dum Dum Girls, Tennis, and Screaming Females.
This month, La Sera is touring with the heavily acclaimed Father John Misty. Katy Goodman brought the smiles to everyone with her gold dress and long red hair. Goodman has got to be one the top 10 sexiest female musicians out there day. Her melodic tunes, soothing voice, and rock n roll tunes take us all back in time. Katy's voice reminds me of Scottish indie trio Come on Gang.
Some memorable side moments, other than the terrific set, was someone in the crowd yelling "Do you believe in love at first sight?", to Katy, and lead guitarist cracking jokes throughout the set, like "When I grow my hair out, I look like a fat John Mayer."
I haven't seen Vivian Girls live, so I can't tell you which band I like better, but I think I prefer La Sera on record. Buy the new record, Sees the Light, and catch the lovely Katy Goodman live in a city near you!
