It's hard to believe that I wrote about them five years ago, when they were just starting....

Bombay Bicycle Club is currently on tour in North America. They stopped by New Orleans at the House of Blues on October 8th.
Openers Sports and Leisure and Vacationer put on a great set at the start of the night. Sports and Leisure will be up for best concert T-shirt award of the year: tennis racquet with a rifle; can't get any funnier than that. Or the fact that it's making fun of the football, hunting, fishing fleur de lis spoof. Gotta love the south.
Vacationer put on a nice jam band set, reminded me of a little of Sublime. Vacationer is on tour in support of Gone, out now on Downtown Records.
Singer Jack Stedman, a.k.a. the young Jarvis Cocker, shunned the throne at the House of Blues on October 8th. A gal by the name of Lucy Rose sings on a few of the tracks on the tracks on Bombay Bay Bicycle's third release "A Different Kind of Fix". But the band has brought another fellow lady along for the trip. Bombay Bicycle Club won the best new band award at the 2010 NME Awards on 24 February, up against nominees such as The xx, The Big Pink, and Mumford and Sons. Here's the must-see interview after they won the award on youtube.
The end "Cancel on Me" from their debut album I Had the Blues But I Shook Them Loose brought the crowd into a trance. Other tracks that highlighted the night included "Always Like This," "Evening/Morning," and their hit single "Shuffle".
Towards the end of the night Stedman made an apology for the band not making it to New Orleans sooner, and promises to be back in the Voodoo capital. Still in their early 20's, this band has plenty more to achieve. Jack Steadman is an aberrant song writer, and I'll be shocked if he doesn't record some solo material in the near future.
Encore: "Shuffle," "Carry Me," and "What If."
Bombay Bicycle Club continues their tour through the Southern states and the West Coast in support of their recent release, A Different Kind of Fix, out now on A&M/Octone.
