CAVEMAN
cavemantheband.com
I can't believe it's nearly August already. I'm going to see New York's Caveman this August 28th at 7th Street Entry in Minneapolis.
The first thing I noticed is that the band's album is called CoCo Beware, I'll bet it's a reference to WWF's Koko B. Ware, a colorful wrestler from the 80s (incidentally, they're on tour with The War on Drugs, another 80s reference to D.A.R.E.) Everything old is new again, huh?
Fader Magazine recently premiered Caveman's "Old Friend" as a free download at thefader.com. Look for Caveman's debut release of CoCo Beware to be out September 13th (digitally) and old fashion CD and vinyl on November 15th.
THE EARTH IS A MAN

The Earth is a Man is from Illinois and they play "post-rock". What that usually means is that it's a bit like prog rock, only more spacey. From reading their biography (the band reference beard rock a few times), I think they have absolutely no idea what genre of music they're playing. This could be a good thing (being that they are versatile) or it could be a bad thing (they're still sorting out who they are). I am leaning towards the latter because they seem like a really young band. The band's been around since 2008 as a quartet, but apparently lost their original drummer and now they are a trio.
The video they have out is called "You Might Have A Moustache", you can see it on vimeo.
Hear their debut self-titled album at bandcamp.
THE HUMAN LEAGUE

Can't believe this 80s New Wave band is still around. Their latest album is called Credo, released last March in the UK.
Their third single from the album is called "Sky" and was released on 25 July 2011. Hear a remix of the song on soundcloud.
Of course, like many of you, I'll still fondly remember their big hit, "Don't You Want Me". Many, many bands have covered this song... maybe I will put together a Cover Lover special on that song soon.
In the meantime, The Human League's tour dates below:
CHARLENE KAYNE
charlenekaye.com
The Huffington Post ran this story about how singer-songwriter Charlene Kaye raised more than $30k to fund her next album, titled Animal Love, via Kickstarter. From her new album, the new single and music video "Human" at huffingtonpost.com.
Apparently, the video and song was inspired by Greek Mythology (in particular the story of Pygmalion).
And yes, Charlene Kaye's tour dates:
