In mid-Summer there should be nothing better than sitting outside watching The Go-Go's soaking up the rays. That is what I had hoped when they scheduled the show at the Minnesota Zoo. What turned out was a night in the rain, but still watching The Go-Go's. I have been a fan since Beauty and the Beat came out. Seen them five or six times, and have always enjoyed their shows.
Tonight was focused on Beauty and the Beat; they recently released the 30th Anniversary Edition of the CD and LP (on pink vinyl). What I can tell you is that after all of these years they are still a tight band. Gina Schock is a hell of a drummer and she still plays like she did 30 years ago. Belinda Carlisle does all of the 80's moves and Jane Wiedlin still comes across like a pixie.
Again, most of the tunes were from Beauty and the Beat but they did throw in "Head Over Heels", "Vacation" and also a couple of the solo hits Belinda's Mad About You and Jane's hit with Sparks' "Cool Places".
Hopefully next time we will get sun instead of rain, but either way, I will be there.
